“If you don’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?”
–RuPaul
When you don’t love (or even like) yourself…
It has a ripple effect throughout your relationships.
If you don’t feel worthy of love, you may feel skeptical or confused when someone shows you care and concern.
When someone compliments you, you physically recoil as if they threw cold water on you. It’s like all your faults – all the reasons you can’t have love in your life – spring into the forefront of your mind.
It’s almost like you expect people to treat you badly, so you keep your distance. It’s not even surprising when family, friends, or co-workers walk all over you – that’s what they’ve always done.
You might not know what it would look like, but deep down, you desperately want to be loved.
In therapy, we can do something about that.
It starts with finding value, worth, and love within yourself.
Embracing your quirks and weirdness…
Accepting your body…
Loving yourself just as you are in this moment…
We have to challenge those critical voices telling you you’re not good enough or that you’ll never find love.
Because it’s just not true!
And you can’t lift yourself up when you’re cutting yourself down.
Let’s explore the roots of all this harsh, judgmental thinking about yourself.
We’ll look at your past relationships and family dynamics to see how your past influences your current choices.
In our work together, you will learn that you do not need to tolerate being treated poorly.
It’s time to step into your confidence!
After all, you have unique talents and abilities and should appreciate them!
Let’s push the limits of what you’ve always believed was possible to accomplish in your life. Because I have news for you: There’s so much more!
You can get what you want and have others like and respect you without sacrificing YOUR self-respect.
We’ll also work on expanding your support system and building connections with people who share your values and life goals.
